New Anawim Housing Logo Emphasizes Children and Families
DES MOINES, IOWA 09-02-2009 — Anawim Housing is introducing a new logo designed to focus on its mission to serve the housing needs of low-income families in central Iowa. According to Sister Stella Neill, the organization's Executive Director, “Our old logo emphasized brick and mortar, but the new mark emphasizes the children and families who are at the heart of everything we do.”
The logo, which was designed by Trenton Burd of Pattee Design, incorporates the wordmark,"Anawim Housing” and a series of silhouette illustrations of children and families. The illustrations were created to be used interchangeably, while the constancy of the wordmark represents the strength and stability of the Anawim Housing organization.
"We've operated quietly over the past 20 years," noted Sister Stella, "but we've proved that permanent, safe and affordable rental homes can help low-income families and their children lay down roots, stabilize and succeed. There's never been a better time to get the word out."
Anawim Housing is a nonprofit organization founded in 1987 to provide safe, affordable housing which assists in the stabilization of low-income families and the revitalization of Des Moines metropolitan neighborhoods. During 2008, the organization operated 211 housing units and 150 rental subsidies, serving nearly 1,000 children and adults.
